Fuelling creativity through community, here's a glimpse into the creative mind of Seoul's So Youn Lee.
Q: With everything going on today how important is Art in today’s society? How can art be a vector for change?
A: Being creative is a nature of human being. Art can't be defined as one right answer, it always brings up new questions and reflects tradition and the bias in the past. As a result, art gives birth to the spark of change.
Q: When it comes to culture; art, music, fashion... How does your city differ from others around the world?
A: Almost everyone shares and enjoys the passion of the current moment. Seoul is absorbent of new things on the major scale but still preserves the segment of old-fashion nostalgia in the small scale of hidden gems. You can find a hybrid of new and old right next to each other in Seoul.
Q: How has your city helped define you?
A: Seoul is a very fast phase city, it's sensitive to trend, and change. It inspires me to find my identity as an artist among others. It made me want to stay as me regardless of trend or hype but also made me be open-minded to new things and accept challenges as I go along.
